Dr. Heinz Ludwig is Professor of Internal Medicine and Hematology-Oncology at
Wilhelminen Cancer Research Institute, Wilhelminenspital in Vienna, Austria. He received his MD from the University of Vienna and completed his residency at the Medical University Clinic in Vienna.

Dr. Ludwig was appointed as senior physician of the second Medical Department managing the special hematological/oncological ward in 1981 and as head of the first Medical Department at the Wilhelminenspital in 1990.

He led the expansion of the department into a center for ommcology, hematology, and palliative medicine with construction of the new patient wing, adaptation fo the outpatient departments, day clinic, bone marrow stem cell storage bank, and new construction of a palliative ward.

Dr. Ludwig focuses on clinical studies and basic research on resistance mechanisms as well as the development of new cancer drugs.
