Dr. Fola May is an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Associate Director at the UCLA-Kaiser Permanente Center for Health Equity at David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA. She graduated cum laude from Yale University with a degree in molecular, cellular, and developmental biology. Dr. May studied epidemiology and international health at the University of Cambridge to study epidemiology and international health, earning a master’s of philosophy in epidemiology. She received her MD from Harvard Medical School and completed her PhD in health policy and management at UCLA Fielding School of Public Health. Dr. May completed her internship and residency in internal medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and a fellowship in gastroenterology at the University of California, Los Angeles.
She is also an Assistant Director for the UCLA STAR Program and the Director of Grants and Postgraduate Research for the UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine Global Health Program. Dr. May has participated in global health programs in Costa Rica, Nigeria, South Africa, Uganda, Malawi and Tanzania.
