Brooke Gentry-Strohm studied media studies and cultural anthropology at UC Berkeley. She examined the insidious effectiveness of corporate advertisement specifically on young and BIPOC audiences, and its role in perpetuating inequities. In anthropology, Brooke studied multicultural ethnographies to gain insight of cultural relativism while at the same time analyzing people and systems from a holistic lens to demonstrate the interconnectedness of all systems.
Brooke took this knowledge and applied it with at-risk youth, implementing the school’s holistic whole-child approach. As a middle school teacher, she developed her own metacognitive and social-emotional intelligence curriculum to inspire her students in their own learning journey while cultivating a culture that engaged in empathy and diverse integration.
